Formerly: "Law Office of Chen and Associates"

Prior to joining Chen Legal Group, Mr. Lin served as a Specialist at KPMG in Taiwan, where he developed substantial experience in tax advisory and corporate transaction support, including mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and startup investment structuring. In this role, he worked on matters involving regulatory compliance, tax planning, and cross-border considerations, providing practical support to clients and transaction teams in complex commercial matters. This experience gives him a strong business-oriented perspective that continues to inform his legal practice and enhances his ability to evaluate multifaceted issues from both legal and commercial angles.

During his time at KPMG, Mr. Lin was involved in significant M&A and financing transactions, including Delta Electronics, Inc.’s acquisition of a 55% equity stake in Atrust Computer Corporation (approximately USD 31 million). He also supported startup financing rounds (Series A, B, and C), working alongside institutional investors such as Taiwania Capital. His responsibilities included assisting with transaction analysis and structuring considerations and reviewing key deal documentation in a supporting capacity, including Share Purchase Agreements (SPA) and Shareholder Agreements (SHA). This exposure to complex transaction frameworks allows him to approach legal matters with strong analytical rigor and practical commercial understanding.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Lin served as a legal assistant and research assistant, where he developed strong capabilities in legal research, writing, and case preparation. He contributed to academic publications, including A Journey of Learning and Reflection in Constitutional Interpretation: The Honorable Justice Dennis T.C. Tang’s Separate Opinions, while also supporting substantive legal research and writing projects.

Today, Mr. Lin concentrates his practice on immigration law, trust and estate planning, and related matters, while also providing support in select criminal cases, particularly in matters involving interrelated immigration and criminal law issues. Drawing on his background in tax advisory and cross-border transactional work, he brings a broader strategic perspective to his legal practice, allowing him to identify and address issues that may arise across multiple legal contexts.

He works closely with the firm’s attorneys to develop effective legal strategies, prepare and refine complex immigration petitions and motions, structure trust and estate documents, and provide coordinated support in cases where immigration and criminal matters intersect. This includes assisting with case analysis, issue-spotting, and legal research in matters where developments in one area of law may directly impact strategy and outcomes in another.

Through this integrated approach, Mr. Lin supports comprehensive case development that accounts for the practical and legal interplay between immigration proceedings, criminal exposure, and long-term planning considerations, ensuring that legal strategies are cohesive, informed, and responsive to the full scope of a client’s situation.
